Paying it Forward...

Last week, I went to get the hairs on my head cut. I wanted to try a new place because the place at the mall I've been using for years had been irritating me. Every time I went there, they would give me this lady named Heidi who sucked B's at cutting hair and I felt guilty complaining.

So I decided to try a new place that is closer to my house. This place called Scissors only had an appointment at 3:30, and I get out of work at 3:14. I went straight there after work and had no cash with me to give a tip to my hairdresser. And they wouldn't allow me to tip on a credit card.

I know that hairdressers rely on tips, and as a person who has worked jobs that receive tips, I understand how annoying it is to get stiffed on a tip. I told Chris, my new girl, that I would come right back, that I had to run home for a tip. She smiled and said no problem. I'm not sure if she believed me.

I walked to my car that was parked in back of the salon and went home to get $5. When I came back, I parked in front and gave Chris her tip. Then I came back to my car, and as I walked back, I saw a $5 bill in the gutter. It was a little wet, but I felt that it was a gift.

Because I went through the trouble of going home to get cash and I kept my word, I was rewarded. There must be something out there that is watching what we do, who is watching for little incidents like this one.

Alright, I didn't give Chris a kidney, but that's a cup of Starbucks coffee right there for her.

On Saturday, I worked a job in which I got a $25 tip. Afterwards, a co-worker and I went to get some food and without blinking, I paid for his food because my lesson for this week was that when you get money by lucky chances, you should spend it on others, because that entity that is watching us will always provide.
